- The Water Discus Hotel
This hotel, located in Dubai, is surrounded by amazing buildings, designed by some of the best architects in the world. It was the first hotel on earth to be classified as a luxury underwater hotel. Its structure has been designed so that there are some areas underwater, others at the sea level and others above water. - Atlantis Hotel, The Palm
Same location, Dubai, and not completely submerged. The two suites, named after the Roman and Greek deities Neptune and Poseidon, are underwater and have floor-to-ceiling windows so that guests can enjoy life underwater.
- The Manta Resort
It’s located in the middle of the sea in Zanzibar, Tanzania. To get to the hotel, guests must take a boat and sail for about two minutes. It’s a sort of floating island over the blue sea with spectacular views. The “Underwater Room” has a deck so that guests can sunbathe and enjoy the crystal clear sea.
- Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
This hotel is located in Rangali, Maldives, and even if the rooms are not submerged, their exotic Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is 5 meters underwater. In this case, guests will not sleep in a submarine environment, but they will enjoy the sea while tasting delicious fusion cuisine, mixing Maldivian and Western food. - Utter Inn Hotel
This floating gem is in the middle of the Mälaren Lake in Vasteras (Sweden), not far from Stockholm. It was designed in 2000 by the popular Swedish artist Mikael Genberg. Even if it’s not the most luxurious hotel in the world, the experiences guests can enjoy there are incredible. The hotel has a room with only two single beds and a nightstand submerged three meters underwater, so the panoramic views will leave guests with their mouth open. Above the room, a wooden platform has been built to enjoy the views of the lake. According to the information on their website, prices are about $1750 per week.
- Shimao Wonderland
In this case, on top of being underwater, the Shimao Wonderland is in a privileged and exotic location in Shanghai. Built on an abandoned quarry which is partially flooded, this hotel has two underwater stories where guests can enjoy a whole complex devoted to water sports, a spa, a swimming pool, a restaurant and, of course, well-fitted rooms for guests. The aerial part of the building offers the possibility to practice extreme sports, such as bungee jumping or bouldering.

Para ello, algunos hoteles invierten recursos en hacer su hotel más tecnológico y así ofrecer servicios más adaptados. Otros, apuestan por tematizar el hotel y ofrecer así experiencias únicas a quien los visita.
A continuación haremos una lista de diversos hoteles marinos y submarinos que hemos ido encontrando por la red. Podremos observar que, aun dentro de esta categoría, estos hoteles consiguen diferenciarse los unos de los otros.
- Water Discus Hotel.
Lo primero que destacaremos de este hotel es su situación. Se encuentra en Dubai y está rodeado de un conjunto de diversos edificios con arquitecturas originales. Este hotel ha sido el primero del mundo considerado un auténtico hotel submarino de gran lujo. La estructura del establecimiento hotelero ha sido diseñada para tener zonas bajo el agua, otras a nivel del mar y algunas otras a varios metros de altura. - Hotel Atlantis, The Palm.
Este hotel también se encuentra en Dubai y no es completamente submarino. Aunque sí cuenta con dos suites literalmente bajo el mar. Estas suites llevan por nombre Neptuno y Poseidón y ambas cuentan con amplias ventanas, del suelo al techo, para que el huésped disfrute de las vistas que hay en el fondo del mar.
- The Manta Resort.
Este hotel se encuentra en Zanzíbar (Tanzania), en medio del mar. De hecho, para llegar a él uno tiene que subir y navegar en una barca aproximadamente unos dos minutos. Se trata de una especie de isla flotante, con lo que deducimos que las vistas deben ser preciosas. La Underwater Room, que es el nombre original que recibe esta habitación, se encuentra bajo el agua, pudiendo salir a la terraza que se encuentra en el techo de la misma.
- Conrad maldives Rangali Island.
Este hotel está situado en la isla Rangali, en la Maldivas, y no tiene sus habitaciones sumergidas bajo el mar, pero sí tiene su Ithaa Undersea Restaurant 5 metros bajo el agua. En este caso, el huésped no dormirá bajo el agua pero sí podrá degustar y catar la cocina fusión entre las Maldivas y Occidente. Ya hemos resaltado varias veces lo interesantes que resultan las alianzas entre la industria hotelera y gastronómica.
- Utter Inn Hotel.
Se trata de un hotel situado en Vasteras (Suecia) y se encuentra flotando sobre el Lago Mälaren, cerca de Estocolmo. No es el hotel más lujoso del mundo pero la experiencia no deja mucho que desear. Estamos hablando de una habitación con dos camas individuales y una mesita sumergida a tres metros bajo el agua, desde la que se pueden contemplar unas vistas panorámicas en todas las direcciones. Arriba de la habitación, se encuentra una plataforma de madera para observar el entorno. En el año 2000, Mikael Genberg(reconocido artista sueco) creó este hotel. Según hemos visto por la web, los precios rondan los 1750$ por semana.
- Shimao Wonderland.
Este hotel, además de tener características acuáticas similares a los anteriores, tiene una situación exótica y privilegiada. Está construido en una cantera abandonada y parcialmente inundada, en Shanghái. El hotel incluye dos pisos sumergidos en los cuales se incluye un complejo de deportes acuáticos, un spa, una piscina, un restaurante y diversas habitaciones para alojar a los huéspedes. La parte que se encuentra sobre el agua ofrece deportes extremos, como bungee jumpingy escaladas.
